A brief description of the food donation program:

Arizona State University’s primary food services provider, ARAMARK, has selected Arizona State University as a pilot site to implement a Food Donation Connection (FDC) program to help feed the hungry. While ARAMARK carefully plans menus and conducts trainings for manager and hourly associates to reduce unnecessary food waste, they also realize the opportunity to donate surplus food to those in need. ARAMARK's FDC-developed program ensures that all of the food donated meets stringent food safety and quality standards.

The 10-week pilot program included ARAMARK/Sun Devil Dining residential dining halls, retail locations and catering services. All surplus food was donated to Waste Not an Arizona non-profit that aims to alleviate hunger by collecting and distributing food to hungry people seeking services in over 90 Phoenix-area agencies including shelters, transition homes, rehabilitation centers, schools, day care centers, after school programs, and senior citizen facilities.
