Has the institution banned or eliminated the on-site sales and distribution of at least one type of single-use disposable plastic?:
Yes
A brief description of the single-use disposable plastics that have been banned or eliminated:
App State’s elimination of Styrofoam™ was implemented in 2016 and remains in place despite pandemic-related pressures to revert back to less costly styrofoam to-go containers. App State encourages students to dine-in, but acknowledges that sometimes, eating on the go is necessary. Thus, Campus Dining has replaced single use styrofoam takeout containers with reusable carryout containers. In locations where reusable containers are not yet available, compostable containers (for a slight up charge) are used.
