A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
The Office of Sustainability worked with the Deans of Appalachian’s eight college to identify a Sustainability Liaison for each college. These Liaisons were chosen for their high level of sustainability literacy and serve as a point of contact between the Office of Sustainability and the colleges for a variety of sustainability issues. For the completion of the STARS course inventory, Office of Sustainability staff, with the help of the Office of the Registrar, prepared a complete course catalog, including course description, broken down to the department level. The Liaisons were than tasked with identifying the degree of sustainability in their respective areas.
