Does the institution offer at least one immersive, sustainability-focused educational study program that is one week or more in length?:
Yes

A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution, including how each program addresses the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainability:

Appalachian's Department of Technology offers a variety of sustainability-focused immersive experiences. One such experience will take place over Spring Break of 2018. Students will learn about solar electricity for the developing world in the rural mountains of Costa Rica. The program is focused on learning through hands-on work. They will spend about one-third of their time in the classroom, studying solar electricity technology basics. The rest of the group's time will be in the field or lab, getting their hands dirty, learning by doing. Their home will be Rancho Mastatal, a 300-acre educational permaculture farm with amazing forests, rivers, waterfalls, and natural resources, located outside La Cangreja National Park and in the remote village of Mastatal.
