Appalachian State University is involved in a project to develop a 2012 North Carolina Energy Code that is 30% more energy efficient than the currently used 2006 International Energy Conservation Code.
The Sustainability Council subcommittee of Finance, Regulatory and Energy Generation Progress has been working on strengthening language in House Bill 1292 (Retention of Energy Savings) by drafting amendments to the bill and providing documentation and talking points. The same subcommittee has also been drafting a modification bill to GS
143.64.17 and/or related financing Statute GS 142-‐60 through 70.
The Sustainability Council also has a task force on Utility Savings Investment Projects whose purpose is to have the state legislature approve or adopt special legislation to allow UNC institutions to invest state utility funds into energy savings projects to be financed through actual energy savings..
