A brief description of the wildlife habitat program, policy, or practice:

The Appalachian Nature Preserve is a 67.4 acre area located on Appalachian State's campus that is "protected from development or any other use beyond the study of nature or the public’s general enjoyment." Additional procedures followed by the Landscape services department include: Where the maintained areas join the native woods the edge effect is left alone for wildlife cover and as possible food source and wherever possible the native vegetation is left alone to promote good wildlife habitat.
