A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

DAISEE - A mobile renewable energy and energy efficient building

In 2008, a group of students and faculty completed construction on a mobile sustainable energy and building education miniature house. This is featured at conferences, workshops and festivals. DAISEE, Driving Appropriate Innovative Sustainable Energy Education, is a model house exemplifying the latest green building techniques and renewable energy technology. The house features a working wind turbine, photovoltaic panels and a solar thermal system.

DAISEE serves as an educational outreach tool to other students and surrounding community members. DAISEE represents a hands-on approach for students, builders, contractors and interested parties to understand the concepts of renewable energy and energy efficient building through a hands-on approach.

DAISEE makes regular appearances to music festivals, usually powering a ‘renewable energy stage’ through energy generated by the PV and wind turbine. To date, DAISEE has been seen by approximately 100,000 people through conferences, festivals and symposiums.
