A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
• The STEM Center sends a visiting professor to AACPS Magnet high school to teach Residential Solar Electric Systems.
• The Architecture Department offers an annual workshop for AACPS Technical Education instructors for which sustainability is an ongoing agenda item. The department also participates in numerous community engagement activities with the K-12 system.
• The Environmental Center provides someone to serve on the Advisory Board for the Natural Resource Management Program at CAT-N (for the local Board of Education), the Advisory Board for the Broadneck HS Signature Program and we will be offering College classes at AACPS Arlington Echo (outdoor education) facilities.
• A representative from the Biology Department is on the Committee to revise the K-12 Biology Curriculum.
