Sustainability Task Force Steering Committee:
The Sustainability Task Force Steering Committee at AUCA is dedicated to advancing the institution's sustainability goals and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. The committee's charter focuses on developing and implementing strategies to enhance sustainability practices across campus. Its activities include overseeing sustainability initiatives, coordinating with various stakeholders to drive projects, and evaluating the impact of these initiatives. The committee also supports the Climate Student Assembly and collaborates on policy advocacy and public engagement efforts. By providing guidance and strategic direction, the committee ensures that AUCA remains at the forefront of sustainable development.

Sustainability Coordination
Description: This office is responsible for overseeing the university’s overall sustainability strategy and initiatives. Led by the Sustainability Coordinator, it manages campus-wide sustainability programs, ensures alignment with strategic goals, and coordinates efforts among various departments and stakeholders. The office also serves as the primary point of contact for sustainability-related inquiries and partnerships.

Institution-wide coordination
A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
The AUCA Sustainability Coordinator led significant sustainability efforts over the past 1.4 years. The mission was to enhance environmental stewardship and innovation, aiming to establish AUCA as a leader in sustainability with a vision for 2030.
During this period, the Sustainability Coordinator achieved notable milestones. The Sustainable AUCA Task Force was formed, executing 15 key initiatives and forging strong partnerships with 15 organizations, leading to 20 joint projects. Major events like Sustainability Week and Green April engaged over 1,500 participants, and successful tree planting initiatives were carried out. Programs promoting reusable cups and innovative de-icing with coffee grounds were implemented, and progress was made in STARS reporting.
Educational outreach included workshops for 600 participants and the launch of sustainability communications. The AUCA Climate Education Week involved over 1,500 participants, and the university received recognition for its efforts, including winning the SLUN Network Challenge. AUCA also participated in COP28 and collaborated with L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and the SLUN Network.
Looking ahead, AUCA aimed to achieve carbon neutrality, expand its sustainability curriculum, and strengthen its regional leadership by 2030. Planned actions included integrating sustainability courses, launching composting campaigns, and expanding student-led projects. The role of the Sustainability Coordinator was essential for maintaining progress, providing leadership, and achieving long-term goals.
