A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:

To gather data about student commuting, AUCA employs a combination of surveys, data collection tools, and observational methods. The primary method involves administering comprehensive surveys to students, which ask detailed questions about their commuting habits, including modes of transportation, frequency, duration, and distance traveled. These surveys are typically distributed online to ensure broad participation and gather accurate, self-reported data. In addition to surveys, AUCA uses data collection tools such as electronic travel diaries and mobile applications, which allow students to record their commuting activities in real-time. This method helps capture more precise information about commuting patterns and preferences. Observational methods are also utilized, where staff members conduct periodic observations at key transit points, such as entrances and parking areas, to track the volume and types of transportation used. This provides a visual confirmation of the data collected through surveys and applications.

Together, these methods provide a comprehensive understanding of student commuting behaviors, helping AUCA to identify trends, assess environmental impacts, and develop strategies to promote sustainable transportation options.
