Sustainability Task Force

A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):

The Sustainability Task Force at AUCA is a dedicated employee educators program that drives and implements sustainability initiatives across the university. The task force is comprised of faculty, staff, and students, organized into five key pillars: Sustainable Campus, Civic Engagement, Student Life, Curriculum Integration, and Research and Partnerships.

Training and Education: Employee educators within the task force receive comprehensive training in sustainability principles, project management, and outreach strategies. This training includes workshops on environmental stewardship, climate change mitigation, and effective communication techniques to engage the university community.

Peer-to-Peer Education and Outreach Activities: The task force is actively involved in peer-to-peer education through various outreach activities. Examples include:

  1. Workshops and Seminars: Regularly organized events such as Sustainability Week, which includes workshops on regenerative practices, recycling, and climate action. These events provide opportunities for employees to share their knowledge and engage with students and fellow staff members.

  2. Campus Initiatives: Activities like waste sorting games and tree planting events where task force members lead by example and educate their peers about sustainable practices and the importance of environmental responsibility.

  3. Curriculum Integration: Faculty members involved in the task force incorporate sustainability topics into their courses, fostering a culture of environmental awareness and inspiring students to take action.

  4. Green Club Activities: Hosting workshops and events that focus on global climate issues and local sustainability practices, thereby extending the reach of sustainability education beyond the classroom.

Through these initiatives, the Sustainability Task Force not only advances AUCA's sustainability goals but also empowers employees and students to become active participants in creating a more sustainable campus.
