A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
At the beginning of the school year, sustainability educators and the Office of Sustainability staff decide on goals for events, communication, and initiatives that align with the short and long term sustainability goals of the university. Students attend a one day training at the start of the school year to prepare for the year, learn about campus sustainability, and determine goals for the year. Students then attend ongoing weekly meetings that include training as needed. Examples of activities the students engage in include helping students reduce water and energy consumption with behavior change education and competitions, promoting recycling and composting through demonstration, contributing to social media, and coordinating events such as a Transportation Fair, Zero Waste Basketball Game, Earth Day Celebration, and film screenings. Students are also available to partner with any interested student organizations or campus offices on additional programming. The entirety of the campus community are invited to attend events and participate in programming hosted by Student Sustainability Educators.
A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
All students on campus are invited to the majority of events and programs hosted by educators, this includes tabling on campus to promote energy efficiency, water conservation and proper waste sorting. Organizations on campus are also invited to request help from the educators to sort waste at events.
