Total energy consumption (all sources, transportation fuels excluded), performance year:
313,332.10 MMBtu

Clean and renewable energy from the following sources::
Performance Year
Option 1: Clean and renewable electricity generated on-site during the performance year and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes 2,144.10 MMBtu
Option 2: Non-electric renewable energy generated on-site 137.31 MMBtu
Option 3: Clean and renewable electricity generated by off-site projects that the institution catalyzed and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes 0 MMBtu
Option 4: Purchased third-party certified RECs and similar renewable energy products (including renewable electricity purchased through a certified green power purchasing option) 187,667.60 MMBtu

A brief description of on-site renewable electricity generating devices :

There is Solar PV on the following buildings:

Washington College of Law
Bender Library
Katzen Arts Center
Mary Graydon Center
Greenberg Theater
3201 New Mexico Ave
School of International Service (SIS)

A brief description of on-site renewable non-electric energy devices:

The on-site renewable non-electric energy is solar thermal. There is solar thermal on the following buildings:

Mary Graydon Center
School of International Service (SIS) - not metered, production not included
Cassell Hall - not metered, production not included

A brief description of off-site, institution-catalyzed, renewable electricity generating devices:

A brief description of the RECs and/or similar renewable energy products:

AU purchases renewable energy certificates (RECs) based on an estimate of anticipated electricity use. We ensure each year that at least enough RECs to equal 100 percent of purchased electricity are acquired. By purchasing RECs, AU is enabling the production of clean, renewable energy. AU ensured that these RECs have real environmental benefits by purchasing Green-E certified RECs from Renewable Choice Energy.
