A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contribute to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
The University has a green building policy and a zero waste to landfill and incineration policy. Grunley tracked C&D waste for Cassell Hall (LEED Gold pending) for LEED documentation. Of 788.49 lbs of waste, 777.16 lbs were recycled and certified by the Recycling Certification Institute. Coakley Williams tracked C&D waste for 4401 Connecticut Ave. (also LEED Gold pending) for LEED documentation. Of 322.72 lbs of waste, 283.89 were recycled. Additional 103.43 tons of ongoing C&D waste and scrap metal captured for campus were recycled.
