A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed:

As a state agency, Alfred State is covered by Executive Order 4, which contains a number of requirements around green purchasing. We are required to report annually on our compliance with the Order. Employees in charge of purchasing cleaning products for Alfred State are aware of these requirements. We currently use green cleaning products for most regular daily cleaning needs. However, the disinfectants and occasional project cleaners we use are currently not certified (though one is labeled under the U.S. EPA's Design for the Environment program). We continue to experiment with different green cleaning products to find ones that meet our requirements.
