Alfred State's Sustainability Club organizes educational programs and advocates for sustainability on campus and beyond.

Here are some of the Sustainability Club's activities in recent semesters:

Fall 2010:
Sep. 24 received permission from the campus Beautification Committee and subsequently planted strawberry plants in planters on the south side of the engineering building.
Sep. 29 attended the “Green Team Rally” in the Pioneer Center.
Nov. 16 presented the water “taste test” in CDH to promote awareness of the problems associated with corporate control of water, groundwater, and the subsequent problems for communities and individuals.

Spring 2011:
Mar. 3 sponsored a double showing of the film Wall-E in the Pioneer Center to promote sustainability.
April 9 Had a table advertising Sustainability Club at the Pioneer Woodsmen's Club inaugural home meet, The Inaugural Pioneer Games.
April 18 co- sponsored the showing of the documentary “The Story of Stuff” in SET 215;
April 19 sponsored the showing of the documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car?”; and listed as co-sponsor (with the Green Team) of other Earth Week Activities (April 18-22) including Lights Out Hour and Electronic Devices Recycling.
May 2011 the club awarded its first Sustainability Award (or Green State Award) to Christopher T. Locke for his work with sustainable efforts such as the community garden.

Fall 2011:
Oct. 11 co-sponsored (with New Horizon Forum) "Understanding the Marcellus Shale" by Kasey Klingensmith in SET 215;
Oct 13 sponsored showing of the film “GasLand” in SET 215;
Nov. 15 sponsored and ran the information session “Concerns About Hydrofracking?” in SDC 139;
Dec. 4 co-sponsored (with AU’s Green Alfred) the Stuff Swap;

Spring 2012:
Apr. 17 (11am) and Apr.18 (5pm) co-sponsored (with the Green Team) Earth Week showing of the film YERT (Your Environmental Road Trip) in the Student Gathering Place.

Fall 2012:
Sep. 20 (3:30-5pm) Sponsored the Hybrid Test Drive Event
