As an intentionally inclusive practice, Agnes Scott College believes that all parents who want to be able to care for newborn or newly adopted/placed children should be able to do so under paid parental leave, in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act. All faculty and staff who have completed 12 months of service are eligible for up to 12 weeks of family and medical leave during any 12-month period. Employees have access to detailed guidance on leave options in the P&C Employee Handbook.

Along with above mentioned paid parental leave, all Agnes Scott employees are eligible for paid all-gender family/medical leave. This includes paid medical leave for the employee and for medical needs of family members. Sick/medical leave is accrued on a monthly basis. Employees have access to detailed guidance on leave options in the P&C Employee Handbook along with Office of People & Culture staff available to walk employees through paid parental leave options.

Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the institution’s published measures to protect employee rights:

Agnes Scott has a strong governance and collaborative self-organizing culture between faculty and staff. For example, in FY24, Staff Council and Faculty coordinated on an insurance plan benefit analysis. A selected committee of faculty, staff and a Vice President were tasked with examining health insurance benefit options with three main goals collectively identified by faculty and staff. The results were shared at the faculty/staff Community Forum in January 2024.

Along with the college’s strong culture of governance and collaborative self-organization, Agnes Scott’s non-harassment policy, Staff Grievance Procedure, and Whistleblower Policy are published in the P&C Employee Handbook, which is accessible to all employees.
