Yes

Agnes Scott makes physical health services available to students through the on-campus Wellness Center. Services include obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating common health problems, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, such as lab work and x-rays, prescribing and recommending medications, and providing health counseling and education.

Agnes Scott makes behavioral health services available to students through the on-campus Wellness Center. Services include individual counseling, group counseling, student-led support groups, psychiatry, and support in connecting with referrals to off-campus mental health care.

Agnes Scott makes sexual and reproductive health services available to students through the on-campus Wellness Center. Services include scheduling visits for acute and chronic reproductive health conditions, STI testing and treatment, referrals to a gynecologist, and contraceptive consult appointments. The Wellness Center also partners with an off-campus organization to host free HIV testing at Alston Campus Center once or twice a semester. The Wellness Center emphasizes reproductive and sexual health education both at the Wellness Center and across campus through outreach events.

Agnes Scott makes contemplative and/or spiritual activities available to students through the Office of Religious & Spiritual Life. Agnes Scott brings together students from vulnerable groups to develop and review policies and procedures related to student safety through the President’s Student Advisory Council on Diversity (PSAC). The purpose PSAC is to give voice to a wide range of students, to promote inclusive climate at the college and to help Agnes Scott better serve its diverse student body. The council provides advice and recommendations to the President and other college administrators on key issues related to campus diversity, equity and inclusion.

Agnes Scott has an emergency assistance fund that supports students who are experiencing financial difficulties. The Student Emergency Fund is a special initiative that helps ensure that an emergency or unexpected expense does not derail a student’s progress toward their degree by providing financial assistance to address their urgent need. This fund also provides seniors with funding to cover unpaid expenses to satisfy overdue fees to ensure they will be able to graduate on time.

Agnes Scott manages programs that provide food at no cost to students experiencing food insecurity. The Agnes Scott CARE team focuses on comprehensive care of students in need. This team includes representatives across departments to provide comprehensive resources and support, including students who are experiencing food insecurity. The Scottie Supply Closet is a non-need based resource that is open to all students and provides free food, household supplies, and personal hygiene products. Student Affairs has a designated budget to stock the supply closet. To increase support, the campus and broader community are encouraged to donate supplies.

Agnes Scott makes physical health services available to employees through the college’s opt-in benefits. Employees have access to Telemedicine 24/7/365 via their medical plan.

Agnes Scott makes behavioral health services available to employees through the college’s Employee Assistance Plan (EAP). This is a confidential counseling and referral resource available to assist employees and family members with personal issues such as alcohol or drug use, budget assistance, family problems, emotional concerns or stress at work or home.

 


Does the institution make free or reduced cost fitness activities available to employees?:
Yes

Agnes Scott makes free fitness activities available to employees through their partnership with SnapFitness. This is a community gym that is located on campus, and provides free access to all employees. The college also has several recreational programs like pickleball, kickball, zumba, and others that are also free and accessible to employees.

Agnes Scott makes contemplative and spiritual activities available to employees through a yoga program along with access to on-campus reduced cost massages. Additionally, there is an accessible community meditation and interfaith space located in the college's Julia Thompson Smith Chapel.

Agnes Scott brings together workers and management in the development and review of workplace health and safety policies and procedures through the Staff Council and the Faculty Assembly. Both of these governing bodies manage and communicate all employee input, including input on new policy inclusive of health and safety.

Agnes Scott has an emergency assistance fund that provides funds to employees who are experiencing financial difficulties. The program is called Ray of Light Employee Emergency Fund. The fund supports employees who are experiencing times of financial hardship due to unexpected, unforeseen, and unavoidable circumstances that can create financial hardship. All employees have the ability to apply to the fund.

As per the 2014 Tobacco-Free Policy, the college prohibits smoking in all buildings with the exception of college owned buildings used as private residencies.

Outdoor use of tobacco products is prohibited on all grounds or property owned or wholly leased by Agnes Scott; tobacco use shall also not be permitted in amphitheaters; or in and within bleachers and grandstands used for spectators at sporting and other public events.

Agnes Scott College recognizes the serious health implications of both the direct use of tobacco products and indirect exposure to the use of tobacco products, along with the hazards associated with environmental tobacco smoke. In order to create an atmosphere consistent with Agnes Scott’s mission and our commitment to improve the health and wellness of members of the Agnes Scott community and the environment, Agnes Scott College prohibits the use or sale of tobacco products on its main campus, effective Jan. 1, 2015. 

  • Policy Details: Effective Jan. 1, 2015, the use or sale of tobacco products is prohibited in or on Agnes Scott College’s main campus. 

    • i. This policy covers all tobacco products, as defined below, and it applies to students, employees and visitors. 

    • ii. Use of tobacco products in any facility on Agnes Scott College’s main campus is always prohibited, including any interior space rented or leased by outside entities. 

    • iii. Use of tobacco products is prohibited in any college office located in a college-owned building. 

    • iv. Outdoor use of tobacco products is prohibited on all grounds or property owned or wholly leased by Agnes Scott that is included in the “main campus,” as defined below. 

    • v. Tobacco use shall also not be permitted in amphitheaters or in and within bleachers and grandstands used for spectators at sporting and other public events. 

    • vi. College-owned properties used as private residences are exempt from this policy. 

    • vii. Use of tobacco products is prohibited in all vehicles, private and commercial, while on Agnes Scott College property. 

    • viii. Use of tobacco products in college-owned vehicles is prohibited at all times, both on and off college property.
