Percentage of students that use more sustainable commuting options:
Description of the methodology used to gather data about student commuting:
For the college’s FY24 GHG inventory, we used our most recent transportation survey data that wasn’t impacted by the college’s COVID-19 and telecommute procedures. The survey included single-occupancy vehicles, walking, biking, carpool, bus, and light rail. The commuter survey was distributed to all commuter students. It was assumed all non-responding commuters use the least sustainable commuting method - single-occupancy vehicle. However, our student body is mostly residential and it is assumed that residential students walk from their respective residence halls to all other facilities. The portion of commuters who recorded their sustainable commuting methods on the commuter survey was added to this population of residential students to produce this figure.
