Description of the on-site renewable systems:

Agnes Scott was the first nonprofit in the state of Georgia to install solar arrays on their property. In 2014, the college participated in Georgia Power’s Advanced Solar Initiative (GPASI) and installed five arrays totaling 237.955 kW. In 2014 and 2018, the college installed two hybrid geothermal systems that support 10% of the college’s heated and cooled spaces.

In 2014 and 2018, the college installed two hybrid geothermal systems that support 10% of the college’s heated and cooled spaces. The first system installed supports Campbell Hall, a1951 science building renovated in 2013 to LEED Gold. The geothermal system has 40 wells 455 feet deep and provided an electricity and gas usage reduction of ⅓ and by pairing the system with a dry cooler, it saves roughly half a million gallons of water per year in avoided usage. The second system installed supports the second oldest building on campus, Rebekah Scott Hall, built in 1905 and was renovated to LEED Platinum in 2018. Rebekah’s geothermal system, not only has 42 wells 500 feet deep, but the project included removing a surface parking lot and replacing it with geothermal and greenspace.
