A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
The above information was gathered from a commuter survey that was distributed to all commuters by the Office of Human Resources for FY19. This commuter survey is completed annually and is coordinated by the Center for Sustainability’s GHG Inventory intern. It was assumed that all non-responding commuters use the least sustainable commuting method - driving alone. However, our student body is mostly residential and it is assumed that residential students walk from their respective residence halls to all other facilities. The portion of commuters who recorded their sustainable commuting methods on the commuter survey was added to the population of residential students to produce this figure.
