Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Comprehensive Campus Master Plan: Sustainability Guidelines

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

Agnes Scott College worked with Sasaki to complete the college’s Comprehensive Campus Master Plan in 2019. Executive Director of the Center for Sustainability, Susan Kidd, worked in direct collaboration with the Sasaki team to integrate sustainability into every stage of the planning process. As attested by Sasaki, Agnes Scott went far above the standard sustainability goals included in a campus master plan, and generated targeted Sustainability Guidelines, which Sasaki developed through the engagement of the Center for Sustainability and the Office of Facilities. These guidelines will serve as a substantive bridge from planning to actual implementation and improve sustainability outcomes. In addition to the Sustainability Guidelines, Sasaki has identified three innovative features that are a result of Agnes Scott's commitment to sustainability, which include an interpretive landscape trail, biohabitat protection, and capital improvement projects that will ensure green building standards and minimize the college’s carbon footprint. Sasaki has worked with colleges and universities across the country, and agrees with the college’s assessment, that this comprehensive master plan has resulted in innovative and exemplary incorporation of sustainability. Agnes Scott is immensely proud of the plan produced with Sasaki and in particular our joint commitment to transforming the campus into a teaching tool, which not only reduces the college’s environmental impact, but demonstrates to our campus community sustainable behavior is accessible for everyone.
