A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
The Agnes Scott Green team is a group of dedicated faculty and staff who work to cultivate a culture of sustainability on campus. The Green Team makes sustainable behavior easier through the encouragement of environmentally conscious event planning, special Community Day service projects, and more sustainable college policies. Green Team members are trained by the Center for Sustainability and then work within their respective divisions to educate their peers on sustainability and sustainable office operations.
Recent program highlights include:
- Sustainability Lunch-in-Learn series: the Green Team has invited sustainability partners to campus to educate staff on the scope of sustainability programs both at Agnes Scott and in the metro-Atlanta area. Speakers have included MPASS (campus waste consultant), Southern Green Industries (campus compost hauler), and GA Commute Options (campus sustainable commuting partner).
- Free Store Open House: the Green Team hosted a free store open house in Fall 2019 to encourage the reduction in office purchases, including office supplies and campus swag. This event was held in conjunction with Staff Council’s monthly happy hour and had the largest event participation to date.
- Sustainability Demonstrations: the Green Team hosts a series of sustainability demonstrations - most recently they organized a waste audit and waste cleanup behind the roll-top dumpsters at the Office of Facilities. The waste audit was supported by the College’s waste consultant, MPASS.
