Which of the following best describes the institution’s approach to rainwater management?:
No written policies, plans or guidelines, but green infrastructure and LID practices are used

A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:

Green infrastructure practices already in use at AUS encompass roadside plantings, absorbent gardens, and tree canopies. These measures help to capture, filter, and reduce stormwater where it falls, cutting down on on flooding and polluted runoff that reaches sewers, streams, rivers, lakes, and oceans. Even though rainfall in the UAE is sparse and inconsistent in the UAE, with averages between 140 – 200 mm of rainfall per year, the country experienced a series of historical rainstorms in 2024, indicating the growing need for rainwater management policies, plans, or guidelines that incorporate green infrastructure and LID practices. AUS will be working towards a comprehensive rainwater management policy in the coming months.
