Documentation to support the full-time faculty employment figure:
A brief narrative to support the full-time faculty employment figure:
Considering that AUS does not have a tenure system, the above mentioned percentage was obtained by dividing the total number of regular undergraduate and graduate courses (excluding labs, recitations, and 0 credit courses) offered in Fall 2023 by the total number of AUS full-time faculty in Fall 2023.
The high percentage of classes taught by full-time faculty is due to the fact that AUS has a relatively low number of part-time (adjunct) faculty (in Fall 2023 for example, we had less than 30 Part time faculty compared to 337 full time faculty, i.e less than 10 percent). For more information about our full time faculty percentage, please refer to our Fast Facts on the AUS website (https://www.aus.edu/about/aus-at-a-glance/facts-and-figures/fast-facts-fall-2023) and page 11 in the AUS Annual Report 23/24 (https://info.aus.edu/hubfs/AUS%20Annual%20Report%202023-2024.pdf)
Definition of full-time faculty: All faculty who are hired on a contract of one year or more with an equivalent load of 24 or more semester credit hours of teaching, scholarly/creative activities, and supervision of student thesis/dissertation and related activities.
