Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:

Both the total number of employees that conduct research and the number of employees engaged in sustainability research were measured from the last three academic years. The data was taken from the "AUS Faculty Activity Reporting System" on Watermark (https://activityinsight.aus.edu/). Watermark Faculty Success is the university-wide faculty reporting tool that stores all faculty activity on teaching, publications, service and more.

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:

The Office of the Provost provided the Office of Sustainability with a report from the "Digital Measures" database as part of the "AUS Faculty Activity Reporting System" on Watermark, listing all scholarly output conducted by AUS faculty members in the past three academic years, eg in academic years 21/22, 22/23 and 23/24. Watermark Faculty Success is the university-wide faculty reporting tool that stores all faculty activity on teaching, publications, service and more (https://activityinsight.aus.edu/).

At AUS, all faculty on a rolling track contract are expected to engage in scholarship and research. At the end of each academic year, these faculty members record their scholarly outputs in a comprehensive database called "Digital Measures". Within this research tracking database faculty are able to connect their scholarly output with one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The attached "AUS Sustainability Research Inventory" lists all faculty members that have produced research promoting at least one UN SDG within the last three years. We then compare this number with the total number of faculty members that produced research at AUS within the last three years.

Note: Both the total number of employees that conduct research and the number of employees engaged in sustainability research were measured from the last three academic years (using the same dataset) and may include faculty members that are no longer employed at AUS.
