For the current construction project for a new Engineering building on campus it was decided to a obtain green building rating system called Pearl Rating System from ESTIDAMA – Abu Dhabi for the building design methodology for constructing and operating buildings and communities more sustainably. In this regard, the University decided to obtain at a minimum 2 Pearl Rating from ESTIDAMA. ESTIDAMA which requires that 80% of the demolition and construction waste (excluding hazardous waste) to be salvaged or recycled by weight.
